Cultural Connection Planning
Cultural Connection Plans ensure that a child in care can continue to participate in their culture and community.
A plan is developed that lays out specific steps for how the child will connect with their immediate or extended family, attend events and ceremonies hosted within their community, and participate in their community’s cultural activities and teachings.
Who Requests a Cultural Connection Plan?
Caregivers, Social Workers from MCFD, or Delegated Aboriginal Agencies may request a Cultural Connection Plan so that children in their care develop positive connections to their cultural heritage, community of origin, and extended family.
A Cultural Connection Plan can be developed for any Aboriginal Child in the care of MCFD or a Delegated Aboriginal Agency and is away from their biological family and/or community of origin.
